Privacy
This page is maintained by the Wayfare team to answer common questions about how the app handles your data. It is not an independent certification.
Location
When you tap Use my location, your browser shares your current coordinates with Wayfare for the single purpose of generating a tour about that place. Coordinates are sent to our AI provider with the tour request and are not written to a database or attached to your account.
If GPS fails or a VPN is detected, we fall back to an approximate network-derived location (city / region) via a third-party IP lookup. You can always override this by typing a place manually.
Photos you upload
Images you submit through Point camera or Upload photo are downscaled in your browser, sent to our AI provider for identification, and discarded after the response is returned. They are not stored on our servers.
Account data
If you create an account we store your email, a display name (optional), a referral code, and the list of invitations you've sent. Authentication is handled by our backend provider; we never see your password.
Referrals and invitations
When you invite someone, we store the recipient's email and the referral code so we can credit you when they sign up. Email invitations are sent from your own mail client unless you've explicitly configured branded sending.
Third parties
- AI model providers (used to generate tour text and impression images).
- Backend / database / auth provider (account storage and session).
- IP-based geolocation lookup (used only as a fallback when GPS fails).
Your choices
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your browser settings.
- You can delete invitations you've sent from the Invite page.
- To delete your account or request a copy of your data, email us at the address below.
